Keeping your hair healthy is not just a matter of using the right shampoo and conditioner for your hairtype. What you eat can also have an effect on the look, texture and health of your hair. If you are not nourishing your hair with the nutrients and liquids your hair needs, then all the high-end hair products in the world won't help! The Eating For Healthy Hair Diet can put you on the right track to having vibrant healthy hair again.

The most important thing in having healthy hair is to stay hydrated. Often too much caffeine can lead to limp lifeless hair, especially if you are not drinking enough water to counteract the coffee. Make sure you are drinking eight to 10 glasses of water a day. It is essential for your hair's health (not to mention your overall health).

Avoiding prepackaged processed foods is also a great help in having healthy hair, not to mention focusing on fresh fruits and leafy green vegetables (5 servings a day).

Protein is a building-block of your hair in the same way that it is the building-block of your muscles. Make sure you are getting enough protein if you want to really see a difference in your hair.

In terms of supplements and vitamins, B12 and iron go a long way towards helping your hair strengthen and grow. Vitamin E is good for circulation of the scalp, and Vitamin C helps with scalp health. Omega-3 fats feed the follicles of our hair, and prevents hair loss.
